make-up: put white eyeshadow first, then put orange eyeshadow on top of the white eyeshadow. Put black eyeshadow on half of the eyelid. Draw eyeliner on upper and lower waterline. Abit of blusher and lip stick

the first string should be just below hair line, second slightly below hair line. Pin the string across the head until the head of braid

should have 3-4 flowers on the braid

Hair: Hair should be gelled ( no baby hairs). Pin your fringe up ( can have abit of height, dont have to stick to your head) tie a side pony tail to your right, make sure the height and position is behind you ear. Tie it very tightly with elastic.

There should not be any loose strands. If there are use gel.Please use sufficient gel or else we will have to gel your whole head.

Reporting time : 2.25pm ( Opening Ceremony dancers) / 2.30pm ( the rest of the dancers)

- Ballet shoes

Reminders to dancers:
Pls trim your eyebrows; shave ; cut your nails; and wear NUDE/ WHITE color under garment ; white/ transparent bra strips;

Yay! so I'm going to start blogging and recording part and parcel of our dance journey for us to remember by ;D

working hard, you guys! :)

So as most of you have heard the loud thud during BT ( Ballet Training as called by Lulu), yours truly have hit her head onto the concrete floor sigh. I'm contemplating to go for a CT scan because it hurts T_T So when you guys are doing BT for the following weeks please be careful! The concrete floor is not to be messed with * serious face* But thanks to Lulu and Wenwen for their sweet snacks!

Thanks to the Organising group of SH Open House school tours for the lovely booth and items! (Lu Khei, Janice, Kelly)

As you guys also know today * powerful english language*, its SH Open House school tours today! By Lukhei and Janice's charm (hehe)& most importantly all of our dancer's efforts, we managed to get a page full of contacts of which has two guys ;D *yay* so good job you guys!

On a side note, we celebrated birthdays of our dancers on Wednesday! (It was an August+October+November+December babies cake, oops >< )
So, the wind was so strong that our dancers had to come up with 'fake fire' haha nice one you guys. Here's a short video!

Yay, happy birthday babies! Speaking of Birthdays... It's Songya's birthday today! Our dear dancer who always help us with artistic needs such as our dance boards,phamplets,birthday cards and dance tee! haha HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONGYA! WE LOVE YOU~

Choosing colours made me think of orange, which made me think of Evelyn :( Evelyn is migrating today~ Unfortunately we had Open House or we could send her off. She just logged into Hotmail as i speak! haha Okay, This Orangey paragraph is to wish Evelyn all the best in Australia be it studies or dance and thank you so much for everything that you have tried to help us with during the holidays, and I'll definitely record our CNY performance for you! :D

Yay, moving on, this pictures were taken awhile ago when the forces got together to fold meihua* determined*. Ok la, in the end we still needed Wulaoshi and Huanglaoshi's help to fold it properly haha.

DAY 1

Things to note for Day 1:

Reporting Attire: White Dance Tee, Dance Attire, Bun, Ballet Shoes
Report to the Hall at 8am sharp
Bring the following:

Congratulations to the new exco!

First of all on behalf of the rest, i would like to thank all who helped create our presents (the boxes and the tight fitting semi translucent tees) We really like it very much =)

We understand that while our decisions and choices for the new exco may not meet everyone's expectations simultaneously, please understand that it was chosen with the best interest of NJCD in mind. I sincerely hope that for all our sakes (includes all of our batch, all our senior batches, all our teachers-in-charge, and of course all of out instructors) i hope the new batch, exco and non excos alike, can work together to the best of your abilities to bring NJCD to greater heights =)

Dear all NJCD Dancers!!!

The date for the National Junior College Chinese Dance Executive Committee Elections is finally out!!!

Please do not forget this date - 5th July 2008, Saturday!

Attendance is COMPULSORY for EVERYONE!

The whole election process will begin at 0830 hours SHARP and will end latest by 1330 hours.

The elections will be held at TA 26 -28.

Election will undergo in three phases.

Phase 1 - Interview
0830 hours to 1140 hours

Phase 2 - Speech
1200 hours to 1245 hours

Phase 3 - Voting
1245 hours to 1315 hours

IMPORTANT - All candidates MUST prepare a speech each. The content of the speech must at least include:

- The posts you are running for
- Reasons for running the posts
- How will you contribute to NJCD after getting the posts
- (Optional) Past leadership experiences, to boost voters' confidence of your competency and track record (to a certain extent)

[Please understand that this list of suggestions is not exhaustive and is the bare minimum amount of content that should be included in your individual speech]

Each speech should last between 2 to 3 minutes long. With a bit of elaboration on the content points above, it is definitely possible to come up with a 2 - 3 mins speech.

What we are looking out for is not so much of your level of confidence while presenting your speech, it is more of your level of genuine enthusiasm and how convincing you are in presenting yourself as the most eligible candidate for the position of your choice(s).

While we allow some level of creativity as well as intellectual humour, please be mindful not to turn the whole speech into a joke, as this will only serve to erode your credibility, since this is, after all, a formal event.

Please be reminded that this election is one of the most important, if not the most important, National Junior College Chinese Dance event for the year.

That simply meant that attendance is compulsory for everyone, as long as you are still in National Junior College Chinese Dance.

Interviewees are expected to arrive before their allocated time slots to ensure that the whole process will commence as scheduled.

Latecomers are obviously showing their level of commitment explicitly.

For the rest of the Chinese Dancers who are not involved in the interview, your attendance is still compulsory as stated 3 sentences/paragraphs above this statement.

However, those that are not involved in the interview are only expected to arrive by 1130 hours to get ready for the second and third phases of the interview.

Please understand that the right to vote is highly valued in other less fortunate parts of the world, and therefore we beseech each and everyone of you to treasure this right by not abusing it, that is to say, to listen to what each candidate has to say during their speeches carefully and exercise your voting rights according to what you feel will be most beneficial to National Junior College Chinese Dance, instead of just simply voting your best friend(s) for some miscellaneous reasons.

Dear all,

As all of you might already have long braced yourselves for this moment, it is the nearing the dusk of our June Holidays and the dawn of term III awaits us in merely a few more hours.

Much as i'm inclined to remind everyone of the status of our revision done thus far, in my humble opinion,(however biased it may be) i believe it is secondary when compared to the rest we have managed, hopefully, to replenish over the holidays.

Yet, i will still attempt to fulfill my duty to remind all of you on the progress of your revision (this serves to remind myself as well).

However, more importantly, i hope all of you have had sufficient rest throughout the holidays, to make up for the late nights from the First Semester and the impending one to come.

We'll meet at 1.45pm at Pasir Ris MRT on 3rd June for all those who don't know how to get there. The shuttle bus to Costa Sands Resort (Pasir Ris) will arrive at 2.15pm so please don't be late! Will leave once the shuttle bus comes & all who are late can take the next shuttle bus in an hour's time. :p

Next, the BBQ night is confirmed on the first night!! :D We'll be starting fire at around 4.30pm so, all those coming late please try to reach there by then! And do try to help to bring your own cards/dvd players/games/movies etc etc, to keep ourselves entertained. But of course we can always go cycling, escape-ing or camwhoring instead. Haha. (:

Hmm I guess there's nothing else already. Bring camera, wallet, mobile, change of clothes, toiletries (for those staying over), blahblahblah. The usuals. (: No need to bring food or anything cos J1s will be settling BUT, if you can always bring and share 20 packets of chips if you want! :D

Dear all,

Please be reminded that there will be Aristal Full Dress Rehearsal tomorrow in the afternoon in the hall. Our holding area however, will be in the Gym. Please meet in the Gym by 0800 hours, unless otherwise instructed. NOTE - Please be reminded to wear NJ PE Tee tomorrow!!!

Level 3 seats are now open for GRABS, please bring enough $$$ for the tickets as well as the Aristal Dance Tee tomorrow. Xiao Xue will be in charge of collecting the Aristal Dance Tee money. The Aristal Dance Tee, due to unforeseen circumstances, has met with a little hiccup and will require an extra 1.50 bucks per piece. This brings the total amount of a single Aristal Dance Tee to a whooping 14.50 bucks. Nonetheless, if you have already ordered, just resign yourself to fate and bring 14.50 bucks tomorrow and pay Xiao Xue, who, i repeat, will be in charge of collecting the Aristal Dance Tee money.

All in all, great effort by everyone today, keep up the good work!

To QMs only: Please be reminded to call Costume Connection for the sample of Charms of the Orient/Oriental Beauties (whatever the name is) costume. Important reminder - the Water Sleeves

Regarding Aristal Tickets: The quota that each dancer can have for a Category 1 ticket is 150/58, which is approximately 2.586206897, and that of Category 2 ticket is 50/58, which is approximately 0.8620689655. So what do all these calculations mean?

What it basically mean is my rough estimate for all of you, 3 cat 1 and 1 cat 2 quota per dancer, is a severe overestimate, assuming everyone orders that amount, as that would result in a grand total of 3 x 58 = 174 cat 1 tickets and 1 x 58 = 58 cat 2 tickets, which far exceeds what we are given. So the current situation is that if i order even 1 cat 2 ticket, i am depriving someone else of his/her chance to order a cat 2 ticket, since my quota is less than 1. So how? So how?

Here's our solution, those that ordered less than or equal to 2 cat 1 tickets (0,1,2), your tickets are guaranteed. This is, according to present circumstances, the only guarantee that we can give. For those who ordered more than 2, priority would be given to those who ordered less tickets (for instance, dancer A who ordered 3 cat 1 tickets will have priority over dancer b who ordered 4 cat 1) In other words, those who ordered 10+ tickets under your own name, good luck.

For those who want to order lots of Cat 1 tickets or even order some Cat 2 tickets, go look for dancers who do not want to order any or have quota remaining, then request from them to help you order the ticket(s) under their name. (For example, i want to order 10 Cat 1 tickets, but i only have a quota of 2.58 approx., so i would have to look for 3 other dancers who do not want to order any and get them to order "2.5" tickets each, in doing so, i must also ensure that it is noted down by either Danni or Daryl that i am the one using their quota so the 2.5 makes sense, the same hold true for Cat 2 tickets)

WHY NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVE?

Yeah, in that case i'll order all 150 Cat 1 and 50 Cat 2 since i am definitely first. Hope you see my pointe.

Please understand that while this concept may not be perfect it does at least ensure fairness in theory. Implementation of this concept may be an administrative nightmare but i really want to ensure that every Chinese Dancer gets a fair chance in obtaining the tickets . I am truly sorry for any inconvenience caused.

*Please settle all Aristal Ticket payments and orders latest by this coming Thursday, 8th May. Those who fail to order any will be assumed to have given up his/her quota.

On a lighter note, lets thank the overall Dance Jacket in charge WENDY for the wonderful dance jackets that arrived safely in our hands yesterday!!! Personally speaking, i like it a lot =) and 28 bucks is really a great bargain don't you all think so? So once again, lets thank Wendy for all the hard work she has put in (she has been planning for it since 22nd October last year, if you refer to previous posts), be it in coordinating the design of the jacket, finding a suitable supplier, haggling of prices, all the way to personally collecting the dance jacket money! (whew thank god! kidding...)

Arlo arlo everyone,

Just to inform those who do not already know, and to remind those who have forgotten about it, there will be a vetting session on all Aristal items this coming Saturday, 12th April, and the first Aristal technical run on the 25th April (Friday) at 1600 hours.

In addition, we are going to perform our Gu Yun item on 3rd May (Saturday) for College Day, in conjunction with the opening of the newly revamped LT 5. The approximate time will be in the late afternoon, exact time to be confirmed at a later date, and Gu Yun will be the opening item for the event. As such, we will have a full dress rehearsal for college day on the 30th April (Wednesday) at 1500 hours.

Dear Everybody,

Recognising the fact that there is Biology SPA tomorrow, dancers who take biology (H2) as one of their subjects will be excused from dance practice tomorrow for the duration that they are having their biology SPA (plus minus 30 minutes) However, it is common knowledge that biology SPA do not last as long as even half a practice length, hence please be reminded that all biology-dancers are expected to be present for dance practice (except for the time of your biology SPA, or other valid reason(s) accepted by the teacher(s)-in-charge)

Do note that while this may sound a little demanding, there are less than 5 weeks worth of practices left, and judging from our current standards, i must say we still have a gargantuan room for improvement ._.

So to all those interested in getting a copy of this VERY ridiculously long awaited video of LAST YEAR'S Aristal, bring 15 bucks for next monday (11/2), thursday (14/2) or saturday's (16/2) dance practice. I will be collecting orders and cash before every dance practice. (just a side note, 5 bucks from the sale of each dvd will be donated to the college's NEEDY fund)

EXCO Elections – 14 July 2007
The schedule for 14 july:
730am-12pm : exco interview @ ta27&28
12pm-1pm : speech by JC1s and IP1/2 cum voting

Official Handover – 18 July 07
It will be after the community service event. The venue to be confirm again.

Things to take note:
· JC1s and IP1/2 please prepare a 1 minute long speech to present to the rest of the dancers on 14 July before the voting take place.
· J2s who are not involved in the interview please be in school at 12pm for the speech and voting at TA28(tentatively)
· To the Excos: there is a meeting next Wednesday 11 July, 330pm at TA block. Please prepare questions foe the interview and think of suitable people to handover to (for various positions).
· The schedule for the interview will be up by next Thursday 12 july. Please report to TA27/28 at least half an hour before your scheduled time.

· Those who are unable to turn up on 14 july, please inform jianfen by this week.

I will try to update it as frequently as possible but if you happen to notice that the upcoming dance practice date is overdue, then please do help to change it =D

So in the meantime, before getting your dance schedules, the dance blog is your best place to find out the date, time and venue of the next dance practice.

Updates on coming self practice!

The coming tuesday 3rd July 2007, will be the next dance practice for dancers involved in IPerform. The duration for self practice will be 1400 - 1800. It is COMPULSORY to come for self practice as there is not much time left. Obviously, those with genuine valid reasons to back up their absence are excused, but please notify Wendy or Wah Chun (new no. +6596189514) before tuesday if you are unable to make it. We hope to get DS 2 to practice but even if we are unable to get DS 2 we will still be having self practice, except that it will be in alternative venues.

Edit: We will be using DS 2

NOTE - Wenlin is going overseas tonight (lets wish her Bon Voyage!!!), so wahchun will tentatively takeover her in the relay and send to yan jia, audrey and kee lui. Huiqi, you'll just have to stick to status quo.

In summary,

The day everyone have been waiting for...

While all of you are in the midst of trying to torture your brain cells or nursing the damaged ones, here's something to look forward to...

Thats right, the coming dance practice is the day all of us have been waiting for!

So now the question is, when is it?

Common test ends next tuesday, if i'm not wrong, and enrichment week starts next wednesday onwards, hence, unless we can collect everyone's enrichment week schedules together and compile them to find out the time that everyone is able to get together for dance practice, which is unlikely, as everyone would have signed up for different activities and the timings are bound to clash, i'd say that the best time for dance practice, after a prolonged discussion with some dancers, specifically to start choreographing or learning the steps for IPerform, is next saturday, 7th July 2007. This is the proposed earliest estimate for the next dance practice. That is to say unless all of you are willing to come for dance practice next monday 2nd July, which is a holiday in lieu of Youth Day which falls on this sunday. However, as the common tests have not ended for some of the dancers we think that tuesday might not be the best time.

Although there are 4 enrichment week activities on 7th July, we reckon that there'll be many of us involved in the activities on that day. The activities are:

-OAC Adventure Challenge
-Pulau Ubin Cycling Adventure
-Wetland & Environmental Awareness Tour (Guided) Class A Sungei Buloh
-Intro to Scuba Diving

In addition, saturday seems like the only day that the hall is available, but we will need to check with the teachers-in-charge to verify the availability of the venue. I feel that we should really start preparing for IPerform on this day, or earlier, as the performance might be on 27th July, which leaves us like less than a month left to learn a 4:02 new dance item. If any of you have noticed, around 16-20th July is Chem SPA so i doubt we have many practices left where everyone can get together. Will continue to update everyone on the latest news. Stay tuned =D
